Step-by-Step: Utilizing an Innovation Process to Redesign the PHAB Annual Report Process

PHAB’s new Annual Report process is now live! Last year, April Harris, Senior Accreditation Specialist, and Reena Chudgar, Director of Public Health Systems and Services, led an innovation process to determine if a major redesign was needed and what it would look like.

Through design thinking, they sought to answer: “How might [PHAB] enhance health departments and Evaluation and Quality Improvement members’ experience with PHAB’s Annual Report process and requirements?”

The Annual Report now aligns with Version 2022 of the Standards & Measures, includes fewer technical process steps, and incorporates the new e-PHAB platform. In addition, the Annual Report now provides health departments with the option to self-select focus areas for their Report, providing opportunities for health departments to share learnings and stories that best reflect their health department over the past year. We look forward to seeing the Annual Reports in action and hearing feedback about the new Report accredited health departments.
